Dear future volunteers
first , i would like to wish you a Happy New Year ! !
i am Elena Vagger, EVS coordinator in "EDRA", a greek NGO operating in the field of mental health since 2001.
I want to let you know that we have a vacancy in our organization, and we are going to apply for 1 volunteer on the 1st February deadline.
First, i would like to give you some Information about the project and the living conditions in Athens/Greece:
A. tasks
the volunteers' tasks include: work in one our rehabilitation units for people with mental health problems..we have 2 boarding houses, and a day care centre. The volunteers support the users in their daily life, keep company, go out, take part in artistic workshops, therapeutic group meetings...and much more. EDRA also organizes every year some events in which the volunteers take part, such as: an art festival, bazaars, sport event for people with special needs, celebrations, etc. We have also recently started working on a blog, for which the volunteers will be responsible..and free to express ideas, put photos etc.... And also promoting the idea of voluntarism and Youth in Action programme for the greek youths.
B. Allowance / food / transportation:
the volunteers, apart from the monthly allowance of 95 euros (fixed ammount for Greece), they get every month, in cash, money for food and trasportion, in total 285 euros.
C. language courses / mentor
the volunteers have language courses 3-4 hours /week with a private tutor . The volunteers have also regural meetings with the mentor , at least once a week.
d. accommodation
the volunteer will share an apartment with 3 other girls (most of the time girls) (at the present time we host a girl from Estonia, a girl from Germany, and a girl from Austria) aged 19-23. The apartment is a very spacious and modern apartment, with 2 bedrooms, a spacious living room, kitchen, bathroom, 2 balconies, fully equiped with all electrical devices, TV, DVD player, internet connection , telephone (for incoming calls). The apartment is located in the centre of Athens, in an area called GAzi, near the historical center. The area is very popular with young people, with a lot of cafes, bars, restaurants. All our volunteers love their accomodation and its sourounding area..and we feel great about it.

Volunteers should be available from May 2010 until March 2011 (that is , maximum 11 months). Or, second option, from 1st May 2010 until the end of August 2010 (that is 4 months).
Then, I am going to include all interested volunteers in the selection process, and then i am going to inform you / and the volunteers about the "successful" volunteer as soon as possible...
